Bridge, stance and a straight stroke: cueing basics
A 1 degree error in the cue's line moves the cue ball 17.5 mm off course over a metre; 2 degrees moves it 34.9 mm. Bridge length, stance and a straight stroke exist to keep that angle small.

A snooker table plays 3,569 by 1,778 mm, about 1.4 times the length of a 9-foot pool table, with smaller balls and 22 of them. Snooker counts points; pool counts balls, and the 147 maximum break is simple sums.
On a 4.5 in corner pocket the window for the centre of a 2.25 in ball is 2.25 in straight on, 0.93 in at 45 degrees and nothing at 60. Speed shrinks it further.
A safety trades a chance to pot for control of what your opponent faces. In the worked example, a safety worth 40% beats a pot below 42.9%, but only when a miss would leave an easy out.
Aim the first ball at a ghost position behind the second, then the cue ball at a ghost behind the first. A 1 mm aiming slip grows by the gap divided by one ball diameter: about 5 times at 300 mm.
